The movie that broke the patterns. He showed a blow to everyone who said that Marvel is a children's movie, that the heroes there never die, and the villains are disposable and they are merged one by one. Then, in 2018, Marvel has not yet become a laughing stock, really tried, invented, laid out in directorial and acting work in at least half of the films. Then they were at their peak, then the world revolved around them, and then they managed to create something great.
It wasn’t like Age of Ultron or Citizen, it was heavy. Most fan theories, as usual, didn’t work out (and that’s good, they were delusional). Most of the nonsense was invented about where the Soul Stone is: in Heimdall’s eyes, in Cap’s eyes, in Wakanda, in Adam Warlock’s cocoon, etc. And it was just new.
But without serious disadvantages did not do:
- At the beginning, Loki somehow introduces himself to Thanos, although he had previously led his Chitauri army during the invasion of New York, and they already know each other through an intermediary (there was a purple alien with extra fingers in the films). Loki carries mutually exclusive things: "I am not an Asgardian," "I am the king of Asgard," and while in fact both statements are true, here they sound ridiculous.
- Thanos assures the Thor, “He will not rise again.” How does he know Loki was toying with false deaths? Do you know each other?
- The film does not show how Thanos received the stone of power by defeating Xandar, and after the viewer after the Guardians of the Galaxy, this planet was no longer indifferent. The fight with the Nova corps was supposed to be spectacular. In addition, I would like to see how Thanos made a stone from the flowing ether. But the authors decided that it was better to spend screen time, for example, on Dinklage’s ring scenes as a giant.
The hysterical act of Peter Quill went down in the history of comic books as one of the most ridiculous, along with Where the Detonator and Martha.
- There is a plot motive that is repeated 3 times. Remember when a lot of people were suffering from the same thing? Everyone's parents were killed. There are 3 similar situations in different characters: you need to kill the one you love. That motive worked when Peter shot Gamora, it worked when Thanos threw Gamora into the abyss. But when the situation repeats with Vanda and Vision, the viewer realizes that he is being hit by the same thing.
- Vision hardly had time to prove himself. He had huge powers, but almost did not use them and was remembered by the viewer as he cooked paprikash. And this is his last film (as it seemed at that time), and the Vision in it is just a lame and miserable McGuffin. All of his love with Wanda took in two movies is 10 minutes.
- The battle in Wakanda, where the savages with laser spears act on the side of good, looks like a parody of the scene from Star Wars, when Gungans fought with robots on exactly the same meadows. The scenes are so similar that I don’t understand how it wasn’t played in the parody series HISHE.
Making a hammer, the characters are doing some nonsense. Thor manually spins ... an astroengineering structure ... Do you understand the scale of this object? Even Superman, whose power is considered limitless, could with great effort to displace some space objects that were in any case noticeably smaller than planets. Here we are talking about completely unimaginable rings around the star, which should be of astronomical proportions.
- He somehow climbs under the beam, because he can not wait a couple of minutes until the mechanism does the work itself. No one understood the rush. Well, they would say that wait all day, and so much time really not, but a couple of minutes!
- Tree for the axe heroes also did not prepare in advance – but what if they were not so comfortable Groot?
- How did Thor know he was going to Wakanda? This is a secret country that hid under the dome of invisibility. He was taken there without Thor's knowledge. But that's where he is. Well, let's say there's some way to catch Thanos on the ship, or Thor has some divine thing to know. It took a couple of phrases in the dialogue to explain it, but they didn’t, and they gave us the real God of the machine. Both ways!
- Thanos' plan seems meaningless. The universe will quickly recover its numbers from the half, as the event will reduce competition, raise the standard of living of the remaining creatures and increase the survival of their offspring. That is why new forests are growing rapidly on the site of deforested. The purge would have to be repeated all the time, but Thanos was not going to become the controlling deity.
- Only after the titer, when the people in the air disappear, Fury realizes that it is a trumpet, and calls Captain Marvel. That is, everything that was happening up to this point did not seem to him a serious enough reason to ask for help. But a lot of times it was about the destruction of not half, but all of humanity.
- Previously, the authors were going to release a dilogy with the title “Avengers: Infinity War”. Part 1" and "... Part 2" but later dropped it, saying it was a separate movie. But the viewer knew he was being fooled. Why the name game? Yes, because the model of splitting films into 2 parts proved to be commercially unprofitable, and simply renaming the film you can get much more fees. Dirty room.
But the pros clearly outweigh. The film still has a teenage rating, but within that it reached the very limit of cruelty, so there was not much R left. It has an incredible number of characters, but the authors managed to balance the appearance of all of them, everyone find time in the frame and give a real role. This is the best thing that Marvel shot, they did not let the fans down, they did a great job and rolled out a real masterpiece for a decade of the cinematic universe. Some splinters can be forgiven.
And for some reason I especially want to emphasize the difference with “Citizen” – I was at its premiere, and then there was a festive atmosphere in the hall, strangers whispered, the film turned the hall into a company of happy friends. That wasn't the case here. People sat in a dark charm, and came out of the hall with a heavy heart. It is difficult to explain why this is not a minus, it can only be understood by yourself. So it's cathartic.
